Just wondering the opinion of others on this, now that KeePass has decent Firefox integration through KeeFox (keefox.org)
I ruled out PassPack because 15 euros a year is a bit much when Lastpass is only $12 :)
I will be using this on Firefox on my computer, my iPhone, and also other computers without admin access - so both of them offer these, just wondering which is better.
I love LastPass. I used passwordsafe.com/ for a while, but LastPass's browser integration is great.
It also does all of the encryption on your machines so you passwords aren't transferred in plain text.
I think it's fully usable with any subscription too.
Keepass works well enough. With the Host-name in Titlebar extension for Firefox it can be more secure than without.
Keepassx is a solid cross-platform alternative which uses the Keepass-1 format.
Mozilla Weave is a free service which can sync passwords and other data among browser installations. Data is encrypted before sending to the server, and one can run one's own server. However, unless a master password is used a stolen profile would still expose the passwords.
On Linux one can use E-crypt-fs to setup a 'private' folder which is encrypted when one is signed out. It can be automatically decrypted using sign-in credentials. Then the Firefox profiles (or Filezilla or any other credential files) can be moved there to keep them safe.
I love Lastpass...been using it for almost a year now I think. Mainly on my mac, but also use it in other locations on XP, Vista and Win7.
I tried tons of others before LP ...clipperz, passpack, keepass, xmarks -- LP beat them all in my book. Not perfect...a few sites that rely on flash for logins have hiccups...but the best I've found.
p.s. I just use the free version too...never really needed the paid one yet
Cheers again to both of you.
Yeh I was also looking at clipperz and passpack, and regarding the flash logins I head that they will be supporting that soon :)
Looking very much like lastpass is the way to go, so i think ill set it up in a week or so
