Looking for a suggestion for a wireless Router

  1. I am not sure where this really needs to go, but I figured this category was better than any. I am currently running a Linksys WRT110, on my home network, but I am completely disgusted by outright flakiness. Can anyone make a suggestion for a good wireless router with wired gigabyte ports? I am no so much concerned about price or looks , than I am functionality and reliability.

    thanks in advance

  2. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372043

I picked that one up at Target a little while ago and have been having good luck with it so far. It has a very nice setup utility, both the wired and wireless provide a pretty steady connection (I live in an old brick house so it's hard to get a perfect wireless connection), and I believe I only paid $60.00 for it. I have a shared folder on my network with tons of movies and TV shows and I have friends copy things off it wirelessly all the time at very fast speeds. It's small too, except for this strange plastic loop that extends off the back. Seems to be utterly useless, but I'd hate to hack it off to find it has a wire or something running through it. Basically, that's my recommendation.

  3. I will recommend the linksys 54GL until the day I die... I loaded Tomato firmware on it to boost my signal throughout my apartment and it has been awesome. Theres an article on lifehacker.com about the tomato firmware. Here is a link for the router - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190

  4. Ditto to tomato and DD-WRT compatible routers

I used to prefer my Linksys 54G series until I picked up my Asus

Compatible with most 3rd party firmware. Plus a USB port for easy NAS or network printing.

  5. i do believe that all routers has the same range of wireless signal and basically they work on the same principle the difference the few added features of routers so i would advise choose the router that has features that you actually would make much easier for you.
